Meet The Barkers

Last night, we ate dinner at the Barker’s cozy, Georgia Tech area apartment. Kane and Jana Barker have been close friends of ours for a number of months now, or since we began attending our newly married couples study at our spiritual haven, Christ Presbyterian Church. I still remember when Jana walked up to me after the first study and said something like, “Hi! We’ve heard about you from Ruth and Jeremy,(other church friends),and I know that you and Rick met on eharmony. I just wanted you to know that my younger sister met her husband online as well and has had to bare some of the stigma that goes along with that….” Anyways, she was just warm and understanding right away and I knew we were going to be good friends when she mentioned the eharmony thing! Rick and I have had to bare flack sometimes for meeting each other online and few people really understand what it is like!! Quickly, we have learned to be there for the Barkers as they are consistently there for us. As Jana is now experiencing the joys of near motherhood, a beautiful little girl or boy growing healthy and strong within her, we get together and excitedly talk about his/her arrival, admire her growing array of baby items and just talk as two women who are excited about being mothers! I know that they are going to be incredibly loving, godly and nurturing parents who will be able to teach Rick and I a thing or two when our turn roles around! Whether going over to their place for dinner/hang time or having them to our humble abode, the Barkers have proven to be faithful, true and spiritually uplifting friends and we are so indescribably thankful that God has placed them in our lives! God bless you guys!!

I second valuing the Barker’s friendship. At the start of the year our major prayer request was to make one good couple friend by years end. Turns out that would be Kane and Jana.
