“Five hundred twenty-five thousand six hundred minutes, Five hundred twenty-five thousand moments so dear. Five hundred twenty-five thousand six hundred minutes, How do you measure, measure a year?”
~From “Seasons of Love” lyrics
On Saturday, my older sister Maryanne found out that she is pregnant with her third little one! This is exciting not only because now we will have babies only a few months apart but also because this is baby #3 to be expected in our family this year as my sister-in-law Aileen is pregnant with her third as well and her little Michaelah is due this month! We are indeed very blessed women to know and be able to share the joy together of anticipating new life!
I think sharing this time with my older sister is special too because though we did not have a close or very loving relationship growing up, we have become close friends in the last few years and I have learned a lot from Maryanne’s strong parenting skills to Anna and Josh as well as from her desire to really meet me where I am at though our personality types could not be more opposite in many ways (type A vs type scatterbrained:) Basically, she really strives to learn individual love languages in order to make others feel valued and loved…a skill few people possess and/or see as important. I’ve really been challenged because of her in this area and am striving to be more conscious on how to love her and others more adequately. Now, as Rick and I anticipate our first, we have a fine model to look to, though she would likely want to disagree! Thanks sis and we’re so excited for you guys!
On another important note, I would like to say a shout out to my younger sister Grace who is not only spreading her wings and finding her place in Chattanooga, TN but has also met a great guy, Andy, and like the old song says, “love is in the air!” I’ve seen my sister hurt but she has always shown her strength of spirit and trust in God, weathering the storms and coming out stronger. This resiliance has never been lost on me! She and Andy can be found rock climbing, running, hiking, reading (yes, they do sit still every once and a while:) and just generally living life and enjoying a healthy, vibrant relationship. We love you guys and hope you might find your way an hour down the 75 South sometime very soon!
Power to the sisterhood!!:)
