Brushes With Fame

I had the honor of handing flowers to the late Princess Di (the two arms eagerly outstretched to give her probably her 1 millionth bouquet are those of my younger sister and I). What an exciting day that was…we woke up at the crack of dawn and made the hour long drive to Toronto with my mom, older sister and some family friends. Sadly, this photo, taken in or around 1994 shows the smiley face of a beautiful princess, the kindergarten teacher who went from a relatively unnoticed status to marry the prince of England in what was supposed to be the fairy tale of fairy tale marriages and life in general.

During my summer long stay in Switzerland at L’abri International, a Christian study center, I met Edith Schaeffer (on the right with daughter Priscilla), wife of Frances Schaeffer and wife/homemaker extraordinaire! The Schaeffer’s founded L’abri in 1955 and since then, several other locations have begun world wide. She may be known well only among certain Christian circles but she is a hero of mine and I will always be thankful I had the chance to meet and talk with her!

Well, I kind of met the late front man of Queen, Freddie Mercury!:)

Last but not least, uber blogger, my older bro Tim Challies! As well as writing daily top notch Christian material at his high traffic web site Challies.com, Tim frequently hangs with the likes of John MacArthur, Josh Harris, John Piper and other well-known Christian authors/speakers at conferences. He’s also having his first book published, out later this year! You rock brother! Just don’t let all the fame go to your head!!;)

Ya, I was going to put a web picture of Tim on too but I couldn’t figure out how to transfer one from the web into photo shop and then put it into black and white!:) P.S. I LOVE YOU and MISS YOU!

Fun post! You have a double debt to Mrs, Schaeffer – through her influence on you directly, and her influence on you indirectly as she mentored me through her books!
