And suddenly New York was all about domestic women

As I picked up the papers Friday, one trend ran deep: Sarah Palin is apparently not domestic enough for New York. Apparently New Yorker’s are deeply offended that a women would seek after a career rather than stay at home with her kids. One writer in the AM News said that she might have to say “sorry Mr. President, I can’t attend this state function, my kid has a hockey game.”

Because these are the values that New Yorkers have always held: women should be barefoot, pregnant, and in the kitchen. And nannies are practically non-existent in the city as women here cannot wait to be stay-at-home-moms. We all know that Colin Powel, Condi Rice, and Bill Cosby are not really black. Let me be the first to say that Sarah Palin is not really a woman.

Also, we are deeply disturbed that her daughter would be sexually active outside of marriage. New Yorker’s are known to be very concerned for the sanctity of marriage. Many conversations I have overheard in the last few days that went something like this: “If that was my daughter, I would kick her out of the house.” Let me tell you, if you are a teen wishing to be sexually active, New York is not the place for you. There are no free condoms here, only deeply conservative church folk who are all about abstinence.

I don’t know that the chances are very good for a McCain-Palin victory. But suddenly, I sense a Palin Presidency in about 2016.

You are hilarious babe! This made me laugh for so many reasons, the biggest being that of course, I am among about 5 women in Brooklyn who stay at home with their kids!;)
