Disappointment

In a recent dinner discussion with a friend, he articulated the hope in Obama the way most seem to: feeling that people will be relieved and the world will be more willing to like us. Susanna made an excellent point. In 2000 people were putting all their hopes in George Bush to change everything. And it just goes to show that you can’t put your hopes in one man. It will only bring disappointment. Apparently, Obama’s people themselves know this:

”Barack Obama’s senior advisers have drawn up plans to lower expectations for his presidency if he wins next week’s election, amid concerns that many of his euphoric supporters are harbouring unrealistic hopes of what he can achieve,” such as he’s going to keep them in their houses and keep their gas tanks full. He’s going to pay for it.

This obama mania reminds me of the similar Trudeau mania in Canada in the late Sixties that was preceeded by the Kennedy mania in the early Sixties. I pity those poor White House staff who will have to endure Michelle Obama’s unfathomable arrogance.
