Looking Back

I wanted to blog today but didn’t know what to write about so figured I’d show some pictures my friend Sarah sent me recently. She was looking in her 2007 photo files and found these…my little 11 or 12 month old Micah and I when it was just him. Just him…so incredible to think about! Yet, it often felt like I was the mom of more already because he was such a non-stop baby! Go, go, go! His energy level was incredible! He was escaping from his crib by 15 months. He was climbing the playground ladders by then as well.
He was what he was then…so spunky…yet now, he is growing up to be such a good big brother and friend. Because he was the only child for only a short season, he has had to learn responsibility and other valuable character qualities early but I know these will serve him well. He loves his younger sister with such tenderness. Yes, there are fights but that is inevitable. And now, just as many are caused by Ellie as by him…she’s becoming a feisty little girl all in her own right!
So, I look back at these days and smile…and then feel much thankfulness the little boy pictured here, all drool and babiness, is growing up well and God is being faithful to us. I never knew our oldest could often cause us so much worry and fear as we navigate all the firsts with him but we are always blessed in the end with sweet reassurance. God is always there side-by-side with us, leading the way!
