My mind is filled with doula, doula, doula right now!;) I went to an open house Monday night held by a local practice but unfortunately both the novice doulas I spoke to seemed a little too inexperienced to me. My main desire is to have someone there with me who will be one step ahead and know how to be in control of the situation. Someone who is kind yet confident. I got kindness from one girl Monday night but did not sense she would really know what she was doing when in a birthing situation and I don’t want to pay to be her trial mom. I got confidence from the second girl but did not feel like she was very kind or warm. I’m not trying to be too picky but though novice doulas are very inexpenive compared to the more experienced, they are still getting a decent amount of money so I do not want to take too much risk!
Tomorrow night, we are meeting with a third novice doula and I am excited because she is willing to come to our apartment which means Rick will be able to meet her as well! Her name is Maggie and she seems more promising than the other two! Oh I hope it works out with her as it would be great to have something nailed down this week!
I must trust God and His plans. I know that even if this doula thing does not work out, I can still go ahead with plans and together, Rick and I can be a team. At the end of the day, I need to trust everything with the delivery in His hands…whether I can go through with a totally drug-free delivery or whether I will end up needing them, I want to be flexible.
For those interested in knowing more about what a doula is and what she does, here is a link to DONA International, which gives a wealth of information on the subject. I know I have not explained the topic very well to those who have asked me!:)
And now, because I feel like I have not posted a picture of my oldest for a while, here is Micah, pretending to be a prince! He told me a few weeks ago that he wanted to be a prince at Easter…okay!? I didn’t ask too much but think it was because I was trying a Easter dress on Ellie and he wanted to feel special too so we made him a crown, a cape, etc! Cute!
