PostPartum Running Log, Week 3

Next week, I will begin working with a trainer at a local fitness center I have signed up with for 3 months. It is not a regular gym but a smaller facility that members can only use on certain days of the week so that there is always enough equipment and trainers available to give each person one-on-one attention. Because everyone is there to work with a trainer and reach some fitness goals they have talked through, it feels like a place with a purpose. No one is there to look good or to simply pose…it is a very comfortable atmosphere. No muscle men sizing up there muscles at the free weight section!

I’ve always wanted to work with a trainer but it has seemed like too much of a financial luxury I can do with out. But, after 3 babies in less than 4 years, my body has gone through a lot of changes. We’re not done adding to our family yet but, ya know, why not feel a bit more like my old self, if only for a while?;) And I’ll learn valuable technique and form lessons I can use in the future when working out.

Running combined with twice a week sessions at the fitness center. It will be a lot to do with 3 kids but as long as I can exercise early in the mornings or in the evenings, it can be done! And burning those endorphins always sets me up for a better day so it is definitely worth working in!:)

Running, week 3 (Saturday June 11-Friday June 18)

1. Monday, ran/walk 3o mins

2. Tuesday, ran approx. 2.5 miles

3. Thursday, ran approx. 2 miles. Did this evening run with my friend Mel. Afterwards we went and got milkshakes at a local chocolatair called The Chocolate Room! I guess we didn’t end up losing any calories last night…ah well!;)

Note: I only give mileage when I know approximately how far I ran…otherwise I’ll just give time.

* Goals for next week: first of all, I want to meet up again with the running group in Prospect Park tomorrow. Last week I was too exhausted to get up early and meet up with them. Also, like last week, I want to go for at least 3 runs, increasing the distance I go by the end of the week.

    Susanna, I'm so proud of you, or rather in awe really! It's really great that you are doing something for yourself. I'm inspired to pick back up my morning walks (I'm not going to even pretend that I run). :)
