Day 3

Day 3 went much like day 2. Amelia woke up ready to feed and did close to a full bottle again. She took some solids and more bottles the rest of the day – the amount she swallows continues to be a challenge. At least with the bottle, however, switching between various strategies and a lot of patience can lead to her keeping in a decent amount.

We picked up a new transitional sippy cup/bottle tonight that we will try out tomorrow. The feeding therapist also comes tomorrow, late morning. Due to doctor visits and our trip to Atlanta it has been a few weeks since seeing the feeding therapist and she hasn’t really had a chance to see her since she started taking the bottle. So hopefully she will have helpful insights.

Prayer Requests

All prayer requests from yesterday continue to be relevant.

Keeping food/drink in and swallowing it is THE major item right now. She is really exhibiting strong desire for her bottle/food which is something she’s never had before, half the battle, and a clear answer to prayer. She wants it, but isn’t getting it down in a very efficient manner.

On the bottle, bits of liquid pour in (we cut a big hole in the end, its more like a sippy) and then she attempts to swallow. Pray that she would start to suck on it as she does her thumb, which would clearly seal from leakage out her mouth and get it down much more efficiently. Solids are a bonus, but she could adequately sustain herself with the bottle and that is where the most calories are.

Thanks again to all those praying and who continue to sign up and forward these requests on to others. Several people have mentioned bringing this to their own churches prayer groups and lists. A couple of people asked if we mind, and of course the answer is not at all, share away!!

    Hi,

You don’t know me but I just stumbled across your blog. I have a 8 month old baby girl (Ryleigh) that almost didn’t make it into this world but with the grace of God he pulled her up, gave her air and put her into my arms. I am well aware of the struggles that come along with having an ill little one and I just wanted to let you know that your family will be in my prayers from here on out.
