Day 1 started with Amelia drinking almost nothing at 2oz. Day 4 and she drank 19oz! So far each day has seen improvements in quantity. Giving her the bottle has become easier and easier as well and she really wants it now which is awesome in itself!
We were also able to borrow a baby scale from a local children’s store called “Boing Boing!” We went in to weigh her and mentioned we would be back a few times and what was going on, and they suggested they simply let us take the scale with us and borrow it. SO KIND AND GENEROUS! Blessings like this assure us so greatly of God’s presence with us in all of this!
The start of day 5 and we are filled with hope! HOPE and indescribable amazement at how well she is doing…we so no signs of lethargy, dehydration or unsatisfied hunger. At the end of this 10 days, we pray the G.I. doctor will see every reason to think she can thrive without the G-tube and our little girl can have a fresh start without feeding interventions!
“And we rejoice in the hope of the glory of God. Not only so, but we also rejoice in our sufferings, because we know that suffering produces perseverance; perseverance, character; and character, hope. And hope does not disappoint us, because God has poured out his love into our hearts by the Holy Spirit, whom he has given us.” – Romans 5:2-4
THANK YOU ALL FOR CONTINUED YOUR PRAYERS!
Fun toys (like the one above and the smiling squeaky toy two pictures below) are a great way to get Amelia to eat. I use them as a reward between each bite!:)
