I think that, or at least in my experience, it can be very hard to find a trustworthy man in the first place. It’s necessary to get a degree just to be able to survive alone, in case no one worthwhile turns up. I think survival is more important than marriage.

I remember fishing with him too…but what I remember even more is catching baby turtles with dad…that the raccoons ate.

That is a fine memory. I have not been fishing since we sold the cottage and I suspect that I never shall again. i enjoyed rowing in out-of-the-way spots just watching the shoreline drift by.
